FROM PETARDA TO IŽIP - SONGS AND DANCES OF BARANJA

Choreography: Krunoslav Šokac
Musical arrangement: Duško Topić

Although it is believed that bagpipes were invented by the Irish or Scots, the fact is that the Croatian version is much older. Our versions are at least five thousand years old. In fact, bagpipes were the origin of both musical and dance tradition in Baranja, where the following dance comes from. Nowadays, dancers are accompanied by tambourines, which are also part of Croatian culture, heritage and expression. You will see distinctive folk costumes and many lively, temperamental dances that the Šokci of Baranja have preserved until today.
