OLD SPLIT DANCES

The basic characteristics of the dances that come from Split, the second largest city in Croatia, are elegant movements, refined posture and softness of steps that reflect the Mediterranean influence. This influence is also visible in the luxurious women's costume, which, along with rich jewelry, emphasizes the grace and figure of a woman. The Old Split Dances are characteristic of urban environments, similar to the court dances of the European aristocracy where one aimed to seduce their own dance partner and at the same time subtly flirted with the partner opposite. Well, if you don't try, you can't succeed!
